School of Public Economics, keeping faith with the school motto “Honesty, Truth, Diligence & Public Interest”, acting in accordance with the school-running philosophy “Peculiarity, Quality-Orientedness, & Internationalization”, upholding the school spirit of “Honesty, Responsibility, Passion, Mission, Sublimity, Devotion, Kindness, Strength & Excellence”, is endeavoring to upgrade Nanjing Audit University to an influential audit university both in China and abroad. School of Public Economics has 4 departments (Department of Finance, Department of Taxation, Department of Public Administration and Department of Labor and Social Security), 1 Practice Teaching Centre, and 5 research institutes (Research and Analytics Center for Public Policy, Research Centre for State Governance and Public Audit, Public Finance and Budget Institute, Performance Management Institute, and Urban-Rural Integration and Urban Development Institute).

School of Public Economics has five undergraduate majors: Finance, Administration, Taxation, Labor and Social Security, PPE (Politics, Economics and Philosophy). Finance is chosen as “Program with Distinctive features” by Ministry of Education, as “Famous Brand Discipline of Jiangsu Province”, as “Key Discipline of Jiangsu Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, and as “Special Discipline of Jiangsu Province”. Administration is ranked as famous brand discipline at school level. Public Management is chosen as special discipline of Nanjing Audit University, and is among the top 10% (Level A) for 3 successive years according to Wushulian university ranking system. School of Public Economics has 1 Priority Discipline of Jiangsu Province —— Applied Economics with 2 secondary disciplines, Finance and Labor Economics. It has 1 Key Construction Discipline of Jiangsu Province —— Public Management with 2 master programs in Finance and Labor Economics. It has 1 experiment teaching demonstration center of Jiangsu Province (The Fiscal and Taxation Behavior Experiment Teaching Center) and 1 Cooperation Program of Central and Local Government (Smart Government and Public Governance Laboratory).

School of Public Economics attaches great importance to discipline echelon construction. It has a strong and reasonably-structured teaching staff, who are devoted to academic studies and have made great achievement in disciplinary construction and talent cultivation. It has 45 staff members: 7 professors, 13 associate professors, 41 doctors (degree candidates included). Over 30 of them have received honors of different levels including 1 Yangtze River Scholar Distinguished Professor, 2 State Council Experts for special allowance, 2 members of National Advisory Committee on Teaching Financial Majors in Higher Education under Ministry of Education, 6 young and middle-aged scientific and technical leaders of 333 high-level talents training project, 5 academic leaders of Innovation Project of Jiangsu Province, 3 provincial talents cultivated by “Six Talent Peaks Project” of Jiangsu Province, 5 outstanding young backbone teachers of Innovation Project of Jiangsu Province. In the past 3 years, the total academic output includes over 20 textbooks, over 300 academic papers (over 100 of which are included in CSSCI), nearly 30 scientific research projects at national and provincial level, over 30 awards in scientific research and teaching, over 20 consulting projects from World Bank, China National Audit Office and governments of all levels. The level of scientific research and the ability of social service have been greatly improved through what they have done.

School of Public Economics has enrolled 1394 full-time undergraduates. With special attention to foundation education and liberal education, and focus on professional development and practical teaching, it aims to cultivate application-oriented and interdisciplinary talents with a solid basic knowledge, professional knowledge and strong ability in practice and innovation. In recent years, the students have published over 30 academic papers in core journals, and over 50 projects in innovation, entrepreneurship, and practice have received approval of national and provincial level. The graduation rate of the undergraduates remains as high as over 98%. School of Public Economics receives very positive feedbacks from employers. According to MYCOS statistics in graduates’ acceptance of alma mater and major, the survey result of graduates from School of Public Economics tops among the financial colleges nationwide.
